Helen
May Smith, 78, of Marysville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at OSU
Medical Center after a two-week illness.
She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blue Star Mothers
and VFW Post 3320 Auxiliary. She enjoyed family picnics, fishing, bingo,
flower gardening and euchre.
She
was born July 9, 1923, in Marysville to the late Robert and Ethel
Henderson Mummey and was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Means,
Polly Kleiber and Ruth Mummey; a brother, Robert Mummey Jr.; her first
husband, Virgil Webb who died during World War II in Italy; and two
sons, Virgil Webb Jr., who died in the Vietnam War, and a 3-year-old
son, Danny Smith.
She
is survived by her husband of 52 years, John J. Smith whom she
married Oct. 5, 1949, in Greenup, Ky.; two daughters, Ruth Ann (John)
King and Margaret L. Smith of Marysville; nine grandchildren, John and
Kevin Webb, John Simpson, Tonya (Greg) Spires, Tracey Adams, David
(Melissa) King, Shannon Smith, Jason Smith and James R. (Kimberly)
Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, George Kleiber of
Marysville; and a special aunt, Ruth Roof of Dayton.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mannasmith-Hale
Funeral Home. The Rev. Craig Jones will officiate and burial will be at
Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
