Map and Directions


This map shows the location of parking areas, restrooms, and birding areas for the Shadyside/Killbuck/White River birding areas in Anderson. The trails are shown in orange. The following directions are for visitors from out-of-town:

From the North: Take I-69 to the Chesterfield/Anderson exit #34. Follow Hwy 32 west through Chesterfield to junction with Hwy 9 (Scatterfield Road). DO NOT TURN, but proceed west on University Blvd to third light west of Hwy 9. Turn right (north) one block to intersection of Alexandria Pike, Grand Avenue, and High Street. Continue north 0.6 miles for parking area (on left) between lakes, or turn left (west) 0.2 miles for parking at Killbuck Wetlands (on right).

From the East: Follow Hwy 32 west through Chesterfield to junction with Hwy 9 (Scatterfield Road). DO NOT TURN, but proceed west on University Blvd to third light west of Hwy 9. Turn right (north) one block to intersection of Alexandria Pike, Grand Avenue, and High Street. Continue north 0.6 miles for parking area (on left) between lakes, or turn left (west) 0.2 miles for parking at Killbuck Wetlands (on right).

From the West: Follow Hwy 32 to its intersection with Jackson Street in downtown Anderson. Turn left (north) on Jackson St. and follow for about one mile. Turn right (east) on Grand Avenue at intersection on north side of White River bridge. Parking for Killbuck is on left about 0.1 miles. For Shadyside lakes parking, continue on Grand Avenue another 0.2 miles to light. Turn left (north) on Alexandria Pike 0.6 miles for parking on left.

From the South: Take I-69 north to exit 26 (Scatterfield Road). Turn left (north) on Scatterfield Road and follow it about 3.5 miles to its second intersection with Hwy 32, where Hwy 32 turns east (University Blvd). Turn left (west) on University Blvd and go to the third light west of Scatterfield Road. Turn right (north) one block to intersection of Alexandria Pike, Grand Avenue, and High Street. Continue north 0.6 miles for parking area (on left) between lakes, or turn left (west) 0.2 miles for parking at Killbuck Wetlands (on right).
