We have followed this family of Barred Owls for nearly twenty years but have only been able to take pictures of them since 1999. Suffice to say that the old "Papa" and "Mama" owls were around for many years before these pictures begin. Each year they would raise one, two, or rarely, three baby owls.
Recorded here are the last years of "Papa" and the passing of the tradition to new generations of Barred Owls. These birds can live twenty years in the wild and have a long history in this location. Here is a little glimpse of it.
