Boat-tailed Grackles


Boat-tailed Grackles are found in a narrow band along the east and gulf coasts from Chesapeake Bay to Galveston Island, and all of Florida. They like the grasses of swamps and are often seen there.



The male (above) is all black, while the female (below) is brownish.



As is true of many bird species, the males are noisy and obvious while the females are more reticent and retiring.
