Late Spring Flowers


This is a May Apple blossom. Most May Apples have one stem and one large leaf; this one has two, a forked stem, and two leaves. Those that have two leaves produce a blossom at the fork and eventually a small fruit. The blossom is hidden by the leaves, and you have to look to find this tiny flower.



These little flowers are from the Appendaged Waterleaf. They are a pale violet color and very small. Notice the tiny insect in the photo below.



These are wild Geraniums, cousin to the domestic variety but much smaller with subtle colors.



This Golden Ragwort is just opening its blossoms.
