Little "Arnold" looks from the window of the nest as his mother calls to him from a nearby tree. It is May of 2006 and she is trying to lure another set of triplets from the nest.
Penelope was a good mother. Here she is watching her newly fledged triplets.
Junior catches some sleep whenever he can. As the owlets grow, they need increasing amounts of food until late summer when they have learned to find their own food.
Arnold was the first of the two boys to leave the nest. Here he is getting his first good look at the neighborhood.
Little Arthur was the last of the triplets to emerge from the nest. Here he takes a long look at the world he is about to enter.
Arnold was the more adventurous of the two males. We found him here, eighty feet up in a giant oak tree a few weeks after leaving the nest.
Annie, the only female of the triplets, stayed hidden, as is typical of the females. Here is a rare family moment. Junior has brought a small animal to her to eat. Then he withdrew to a nearby tree where Penelope was keeping watch. The two parents share a few moments together (right) as they watch their daughter.
With good care from their parents, the triplets grew quickly. Here they are seen about six weeks after leaving the nest. Arnold and Arthur are above and Annie below. They still have some of their down remaining, but have a full set of feathers and fly well.
