We don't often catch pictures of birds on the wing, but these herons came one after the other, giving us time to target them as they flew across Shadyside Lake.
We spotted this Great Blue well back in the woods near the edge of Killbuck Creek. It was very skittish and moments after this picture was taken it took wing, even though it was about 100 yards from us. We think it was migrating rather than one of the local herons, who are not as wary of people.
